And not a drop to drink.
My home is full of water. We have streams, a small waterfall, and not to mention the days and nights of torrential dow
n pouring rain. However, drinking water is a completely different story.
Monsoon not only means water everywhere- but it also means not drinking from any of the water sources. Normally, you can just drink from the tap because it flows straight from a mountain spring. [which by the way, the water taste better than Fiji] Because there is so much water- it gets contaminated very easy- think animal poop [and lets be real human poop] everywhere, water running everywhere, then draining into the water tap. Thus you are drinking really dirty dirty water.
Giardia. Giardia sucks. It sucks really really bad. It is basically a protozoan that lives in your intestines that makes you want to die. It starts with stomach cramps, burps, diarrhea, and nausea. Then the feelings and longing for death- The medication is about 4 grams of tinazole- and tinazole is almost as worse as the giardia. It makes you taste metal for two days- and basically makes you just want to sleep.
The savior of the season seems to be chlorine. Three drops of chlorine in a liter of water- kills everything. So for a couple of months my crisp mountain water taste like a crisp cold pool.
